Second
in a series of exotic
birds
collection. A
limited edition of 2500 exclusive to The Guild of Specialist Gift
Retailers. Each had a special backstamp and a certificate. Unlike the
paperweights in the aquatic
creatures series,
the Amazon Green Parrot will not go on general release with standard
backstamp.
The term parrot is believed to originate from the French language as the term 'Pierrot', an abbreviation of Peter, was used to describe small birds. The corruption of this term became Parrot replacing the previous one of 'Popinjay'. |

The
Bronze Winged Parrot is perhaps the most beautiful but shyest of all
parrots, often called a "Living Rainbow" by aviculturalists.
This piece has violet-blue wings and is heavily decorated with 22 carat
gold.
They are found in the tropical and sub-tropical forests of Venezuela, Columbia, Equador and Peru. They live on berries, fruits, flowers and seeds. |
