Royal Vale Figures

In the past surplus slips of retired Royal Crown Derby figures have been sold under the name Royal Vale. These figures are usually from the Royal Cats or National Dogs collections and are easily identifiable as they are pure white except for gilding to highlight their features.

For example, the Royal Vale colourway of the Pearly King from the Royal Cats Collection looks like:

When Royal Crown Derby separated from the Royal Doulton Group, it is believed that Royal Doulton were left with a number of undecorated slips from these two collections which they glazed in pure white only and sold without a company marking. Examples of this type can be seen below:
